History

The black baron was a hero of his time. There was a man who made a name of himself as he was fighting at the front line in World War I. The story of this feared commander was soon told behind the French border. Particularly one man was fascinated and at the same time shocked by the threat yet to come. Philippe Marchant, a goldsmith from Paris, worked at the same time in the border region around Saint-Avold. Besides leading a life as a normal however successful goldsmith, he was a secret agent for the German leader’s squadron and had therefore relations that reached far inside the German leader power. Inspired by the Black Baron’s inimitable accomplishments, Marchant devoted himself to creating hero’s relics in his Parisian studio after the war’s end until he disappeared inexplicably in 1940. Thereupon his family fled to South America. The era of the elitist jewellery brand ended. The myth of the Black Baron fell into oblivion but never died.

Philosophy

The Chilean designer Francisco Marchant celebrates the revival of his old family tradition by manufacturing his eccentric and exclusive jewellery.
BLACK BARON is rock and glamour at the same time. Each piece of jewellery is characterized by a high complexity regarding handcraft and its high quality.
